Environment
CamSemi's environmental policy was adopted by the board in November 2007 as:
"CamSemi is committed to helping customers achieve more energy- and materials-efficient offline power conversion and as a developer and provider of integrated circuits endeavours to be environmentally responsible.
We have an active environmental management system that ensures compliance to all applicable legal environmental requirements together with those agreed with our customers.
All employees work actively to prevent pollution, reduce waste, recycle and minimise the company’s impact on the environment. To this end we set environmental objectives and measure our performance in order to maintain continuous improvement.
Our products are designed to assist our customers in achieving the most cost and materials efficient energy conversion and therefore contribute to a global effort in saving worldwide resources."
In addition, all key suppliers are ISO 14001 certified.
Green credentials
CamSemi is also being increasingly recognised externally for its environmental commitments:
- All products are independently tested, annually to comply fully with RoHS and related standards
- The company has recently been awarded ISO 14001 for its environmental management systems
- CamSemi was recently backed by Carbon Trust – a UK government-backed VC fund focused on supporting the UK’s clean technology sector
Adam Workman, partner at Carbon Trust Investments talking as a new investor said:
“Standby power is an important issue for consumer electronic equipment manufacturers owing to both rising energy costs and the emergence of green consumers who are concerned about their carbon footprint. There are also several pieces of impending legislation that will force manufacturers to reduce energy consumption when their products are in standby mode. The Carbon Trust is delighted to be joining at this investment round as we believe that CamSemi has one of the few technologies in development with the potential to really make a difference in this area.”
