3i - world leading venture capital and private equity company with a focus on early-stage technology, growth capital and buyouts. 3i invests across Europe, the United States, Asia Pacific and Israel and the company’s strength comes from its strong international network and broad business relationships. Over the next 5 years, 3i's venture capital business plans to invest around $1.5bn in ambitious early and late stage technology and healthcare companies all over the world.
Scottish Equity Partners is one of the largest independent private equity groups in the UK, with over 50 emerging growth technology companies in its current portfolio. SEP currently invests from a venture capital fund in excess of £100 million, backed by leading UK and European institutional investors, and will invest from £500,000 to £5 million or more in financings of up to £30 million.
TTP Ventures provides venture capital for early-stage science and technology companies. It draws on the expertise and contacts of TTP Group, one of Europe’s most successful engineering innovation companies, to help grow substantial businesses. Investments include fabless semiconductor companies Element 14, Alphamosaic (both acquired by Broadcom) and SiConnect, and low-power EDA specialist Azuro.
Carbon Trust Investments is the venture capital investment subsidiary of the Carbon Trust. Nine investments have been made over the last four years, with two investments - Ceres Power PLC and CMR Fuel Cells PLC - having listed on AIM. Other portfolio companies include: Pelamis Wave Power Ltd and Acal Energy Ltd. CT Investment Partners LLP is the FSA authorised venture capital advisory subsidiary of the Carbon Trust which advises Carbon Trust Investments.
BankInvest New Energy Solutions venture fund was established in 2002 and consists of two funds of € 160 million in total. The investment scope is new energy and cleantech investments with a geographical focus on Scandinavia, Europe and North America. NES has invested in 16 companies, exited 4 and is active on the board of the remainder; its two other UK-based investments are Marine Current Turbines Ltd and Atraverda Ltd. NES is part of the BankInvest Group, an asset management house with € 25 billion under management.
